The School of Life Sciences (SLS), IUB, held the inaugural session in a series of workshops designed to teach Life Sciences students about science communication. As science and technology continue to advance and influence society, it is increasingly important for the general population to stay informed on scientific developments, whether or not they are scientists themselves. For scientists, being able to communicate advanced scientific findings or concepts to the general reader is therefore not only an invaluable skill, but also a responsibility. The workshop, jointly conducted by Mr. Ornob Alam and Mr. Zain Omar Ali who are both lecturers in SLS, introduced students to conventions and practices in science writing, and assigned individual writing projects for review and improvement in future sessions.
